One month ago, I bought a bunch of mp3 files on Itunes.
One week ago, I transferred all my data to my new MacBook, including my music.
But then I had the bad surprise not to be able to listen to these mp3 files I had bought.
Welcome to the world according to Apple: you think you have bought these contents but the reality is that you just have rent the right to use them on a specific device!
The problem is well known: it is called D.R.M. or Digital Rights
Management. DRM are technical gates embedded in your favourite mp3
files to prevent you from illegally broadcasting them on Peer to Peer
networks.
OK. But the side effects DRM have are unbearable for the regular citizen that pays for what he consumes.
So I sent them a mail explaining my case. Because Apple listens to his
clients, they granted me the right to reload these files on my
new MacBook for free. Cool!
This perfectly worked till the moment I tried to transfer theses files
to my Ipod. Alas! Alas! I couldn't listen to these mp3 files on my Ipod.
I gave up and finally erase them. I don't have the time to send them a new mail.
I am now pretty sure I won't buy anything else on Itunes.
Unbearable side effects I said.
