3 Millions mobile users in France

Says GFK in a recent study (source www.servicesmobiles.fr): we are more than 3 milllions people surfing on our mobile phones in France.

Says Mediametrie in another recent study: we are almost 8 millions users!

Orange goes further (bravo!): we would be more than 10 millions users in France.

Gosh! What is this zoo? Does anybody know something? Or are we all dancing in the dark?

Have a look to this chart: 91% of French people "never surf on their mobile". There are 36 M French people between 15 and 60. So these remaining 9% weighs about 3.24 M. End of the story.

Now let's play the prediction game: 3.24 M in 2008, 4.5 in 2009 (let's be optimistic!), 7 M in 2010 and 10 M in 2011. Remember that this whole story about mobile surfing started 6 years ago, so don't think we will be 10 M next year.
Sceptical? Look around you. Ask your friends whether they surf. Mine just don't. More: they aren't willing to. Remember my meeting with two young students from HEC a few weeks ago.

What am I saying? Things eventually will take place of course. There will be a market. One day. It is a question of years, not a question of quarters, like some might say.
